Here you will find a selection of my landscape photographs of Devon, England, for sale as fine art canvas wrap prints. Canvas wrap prints, also known as ‘gallery wrap’ are where the canvas is stretched over a wooden frame (known as stretcher bars) and wraps around. Thus the image goes all the way to the edge. They arrive ready to hang, with no additional framing required. My canvas prints are archival quality (not to be confused with cheap, mass produced canvas prints) using state of the art pigment ink technology. Tests indicate such prints are fade free for 100+ years out of direct sunlight. Here you are buying direct from the photographer (that’s me). Each print is individually produced to order, to your specifications. To view the full image, for more details about each print and for purchasing options, click the thumbnail images.

Reflections, Turf Locks

Photography has been described as painting with light, and that is pretty much how I see it. No more so than when capturing moody skies reflected on still water. This is the Exeter Ship Canal by Turf Lock, where yachts moor having just entered the canal from the estuary, or whilst waiting to leave. I took this photograph take one afternoon back in 2008. The water was still, but dark clouds were gathering ominously. I positioned myself on the far bank, as low and near the water’s edge as possible to the this shot. Sometimes, if you are lucky and patient, everything aligns just right.

The Image

The Turf Locks, Exeter, Devon, is the entrance to the Exeter Ship Canal from the Exe Estuary.

This is a photograph captured on film. The photograph was captured using a Nikon F4 camera, (one of Nikon’s finest pieces of engineering in my opinion) and 20mm Nikon prime lens. Being a film image, it shows grain in the image rather than regularly-shaped pixels. I shot this image on Fuji Velvia 100. Velvia has long been my favourite film for landscape photography due to its rich colours and fine detail.
