These are not mass produce: each print is produced to order, and sold only by me through my website. My acrylic prints are available in sizes up to 100cm (39.5 inch) width (individual images may vary in maximum size). They can be shipped to most countries across the World. I work with different printers in different geographic regions to minimize shipping time and costs. For more details, or to enquire about purchasing one of my prints, please email me.
‘Shy girl’
A young girl peers shyly from behind a building wall, Assomada, Santiago, Cape Verde (Cabo Verde). I took this photograph nearly 20 years ago, during a visit to an orphange in Assomada, in the mountains of Santiago. The little girl was not part of the orphanage. She was standing outside, curious as to who these foreigners were. I really like the contrast between the vibrant colours of her scarf and skirt, and the muted greys of the surrounding walls.
This image is available as a fine art paper print, a stretched canvas print and an facemount acrylic print. Sizes from 25 x 16 cm up to 85 x 53 cm are available (media dependent). Email for details. https://colinmunrophotography.com

‘Selkies on the Shore’
Juvenile grey seals play on rocks at the waters edge. Selkies are creatures in Scottish mythology that shift between being seals in the water, and take human form on land. The word ‘selch’ is Old Scots language for a grey seal. I took this picture at a rocky ourcrop in the Shiant Islands. The Shiants lie between the Island of Skye and Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, West Scotland.

‘Hoisting the sail’.
The local villagers crewing an outrigger canoe, known as a sailau, begin to hoist the sail as they leave shore. I took this photograph off Dobu Island, Papua New Guinea, a few years back. I often prefer black and white for images of people; it focusses one’s attention on the detail, the light and shadow, with fewer distractions.
This image is available as a fine art paper print, stretched canvas print, and a facemount acrylic print. Sizes from 25 x 16 cm up to 79 x 53 cm are available (media dependent). Email me for details. https://colinmunrophotography.com

Acrylic prints are, I’m sure this won’t surprise you, prints created in or on sheets of acrylic. It’s a relatively new technique and has a number of advantages over traditional techniques such as printing on canvas. The colours tend to be more vibrant and the details razor-sharp. Canvas colours can be a little more muted and the detail not quite as sharp simply due to the nature of the medium. Acrylic prints can also have much better longevity than canvas or metal prints, the image is protected by a layer of acrylic which protects the sensitive dyes from most of the UV light which otherwise may cause them to fade.
Acrylic prints can be direct printed or facemount printed. Direct printing is is easier and cheaper. However, it does not have the same colour accuracy, longevity or sharpness as facemount printing. With facemount printing the image is printed on to quality art or photographic paper – the best medium for faithful reproduction of photographic images. This is is then fixed to a dibond (or similar backing) and face-mounted directly onto a thin layer of acrylic, so that it is sandwiched between the two. The refraction of light through the acrylic helps give added luminosity to the image. I have carefully chosen to have my prints created in some of the best high end art printing shops. This does not make them the cheapest, but it does reflect the quality.
