Sailau Outrigger Canoe
Sailau Outrigger Canoe, Papua New Guinea. Photographic Art Print
Outrigger sailing canoes are the main form of transport around the coast of Papua New Guinea, especially between the many islands. They go by different names, the smaller generally known as sailaus. Most are still constructed by hewing out trees by hand. Small canoes will be made from one tree trunk hollowed out. Dobu Island, where I took this photograph, is one of the smaller of the D'Entrecasteaux Islands in Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea.
Print Sizes
The print is available in 3 sizes: 30 x 20cm, 45 x 30cm and 60 x 40cm. Please also note I have slightly rounded up or down the print sizes to the nearest half inch.
The Paper
The prints are produced on Canson Infinity Baryta 310gsm paper. I specifically chose this paper because of its exceptional ability to faithfully replicate colour and vividness, its great longevity and its barium sulphate coating. This aids capture of intricate details and definition in the print, has excellent archival qualities and helps in replicating the look of traditional darkroom prints.
Notes. These prints are not framed. A framing service is available. We use handmade wooden frames sourced from sustainable, high density pine. Contact me directly if you would like the print framed.
