Hi and Welcome! |
|
| Hi and welcome to what will be an occasional, erratic and often meandering newsletter about new images, shoots, trips, comment and occasional rants. As this is the first there are quite a few items I can bore you with. If this does not display correctly in your mail client (and images often don't or can look lousy) you can view online at Newsletter | |
| Please let me know if you have major problems viewing this newsletter. I'll be making ongoing improvements, so its good to get feedback as to what works and what doesn't. Apologies also for the scattergun approach to this first one. If you'd rather not receive further ones just email me stating 'stop newsletter' and I'll take you off the list. Equally, if you've had this forwarded to you and would like to be added to the mailing list then email me stating 'add to newsletter'. Email me | |
| As I'm sure you've already worked out, the purpose of this is to showcase some of my recent work and to encourage you to visit my website. If this entertains you for five minutes that's great. If it actually encourages you to think about using some of my images or commissioning me for specific work, even better. | |

Revamped Website |
| First off I've been pouring over my copy of 'introduction to windows for dummies' and thus my website has been undergoing a few changes of late. I've ditched most of the tables and finally switched to CCS (er..mostly) and its now XHTML compliant (well... getting there). Flash in websites has been getting a bad press of late, I know its not great for SEO and iPhones and iPads don't like it...but its still a neat way to display a few choice images. I've used it sparingly on the default page only...let me know if you hate it or maybe just find it barely tolerable ... www.colinmunrophotography.com | |
Blog |
|
| Having resisted it for as long as possible I have recently succumbed and started a blog. It was a tough call but I've decided to spare you details of when I'm stuck in traffic, what DVD I'm planning watching this evening or my views on software manufacturers using the paying public to beta test their products (I may weaken on that last point). just to whet your appetite (or possibly warn you off) here are links to a few recent items: | |
| Exeter's historic quay at night - HDR images | |
| Fine art prints for sale - Devon and Fiji | |
| Sunrise, Navua River, Viti Levu, Fiji | |
| Photographic exhibition, Boston Tea Party cafe, Exeter | |
| Loch Ness in winter | |

Basking sharks, Cornwall |
| The blog can be accessed directly from my website, and there is an RSS feed for those that use them. | |
Exhibition |
|
| The more sharp-eyed amongst you will have noticed amongst the blogs that I have a little exhibition of prints on display at the Boston Tea party cafe in Exeter. I've got ten images up, ranging from tiger sharks around Fiji to old wooden boats on the Exe Estuary via canoe fishermen in Senegal. They should be up for a few weeks, and the coffee's pretty good there too. In case you're not sure where the BTP is check out the google map | |

Exeter after dark |
| Since before Christmas I've been playing around taking some images of Exeter at night. These include icey landscapes through January into the balmy nights of summer. In particular I've been playing with long exposures, merging multple images and tone mapping high dynamic range images. You can check out a few of them here. This is something I'll be adding to. Those of you familiar with HDR photography will immediately have spotted that the top image on this newsletter is a tonemapped HDR image. | |
And finally...fun stuff |

I was comissioned to shoot some basking shark footage last summer, but on the day of the shoot all the basking sharks decided not to make an appearance. However, steaming back into harbour that evening we met a couple of playful grey seals. The light was getting pretty low by then but I decided to get in anyway and shoot a few clips. I've put a little edited sequence together .....Grey seals |
| Its in quicktime, so you may need to download this if you don't already have it. Quicktime player | |
