| Large basking shark, Cetorhinus maximus, feeding in surface waters. Cornwall, UK. Four sea lampreys (Petramyzon marinus) can be seen attached to its pelvic fin. |
Cornwall, UK. Gill slits can be clearly seen, as can
wrinkled skin. Basking sharks may grow to 13 metres in length and are
the second longest fish in the World. They congregate around the tip
of Cornwall for a few weeks most summers.
